Campaign Speech

On November 15, 2006, the Commission's Administrator addressed the annual meeting of the Council of Chief Judges of Courts of Appeal in Washington, DC. The subject was Campaign Speech and the Administration of Justice. The remarks focused on whether elected judges will more frequently be disqualified from hearing cases because their impartiality has been compromised by statements they made while campaigning for judicial office. On November 29, 2006, the New York Law Journal published an edited version of the remarks, which are available here: Remarks to Chief Judges.
